To the Parents of:

Man, do I hate that! I'm sending out postcards as a reminder for a parent meeting and I came across one that says, "To the Parents of". When I see that all it says to me is "You don't know me or my family so why should I even read this?!"

Our team has to do a better job of knowing kids and thier families.

Don't feel bad yet. Remember half of this thing is a new gig for you. We will get it done. Your team stands ready to kick some A --- Ahhh ---tail.

Hey, did you know that I learned this week where the 49ers got their name. All the people coming for the gold rush in 1849 were called 49ers. And to think that I used to think social studies was a waste of time!

Dude, I just had a parent meeting, and a sponsor meeting, and I still have not met 1/2 of the kids parents who come.

They don;t call, email, or even see who is teaching their kids and what exactly they are teaching them.

I think this will always be a sad and losing battle...

Babysit much? ;)

Blake! it takes time, bro. You've got to remember that most of these people aren't used to having a youth pastor. And they assume that the church is doing good things. I rarely have parents inquire as to what we are teaching.

Keep building relationships like you did at the school. take parents out to lunch. that's what I'm doing this week.
